Things to Do with the Kids this Weekend (5th – 7th May 2017)
Need ideas for keeping the kids entertained this weekend? Here are some fun and free activities that are suitable for the whole family, right here in Milton Keynes!
Giant Floating Egg at Stanton Low Park
Easter’s not over yet! This fantastic free event is available until 14th May at Stanton Low Park, and features an interesting exhibition of artworks by artist, Stephen Turner. The exhibition takes place inside a floating egg that sits on the Grand Union Canal and admission is free. Open from 12pm to 6pm across the whole weekend.
If you’re around on Sunday 7th, don’t miss the free ‘Walk and Forage’, hosted by Stephen himself in partnership with Forest and Folk.
MK Guided Bike Rides
Another free activity in Milton Keynes and perfect for families and all age groups / abilities. MK Guided Bike Rides will be taking place in the city until 30th September – so you can enjoy exploring on two wheels with a free guide for the whole of the summer! Family rides take place every Saturday at the Milton Keynes Discovery Centre (from 10am to 11:30am) plus every Sunday at Caldecotte Lake, meeting at Caldecotte Arms (from 10am to 11:30am). Family guided bike tours are designed to be gentle, using traffic-free routes and will be between 3 to 10 miles depending on the age/ability of the group. Rides are completely free of charge but make sure you book on the Let’s Ride Website.
Refreshments in the Courtyard at Cowper & Newton Museum
Get free entry to the historic courtyard at Cowper & Newton Museum in Olney from 3rd to the 18th May. A fantastic day out if you have nothing on this weekend! Between 10:30am and 12:00pm every day, refreshments will be available in the courtyard, and you and the kids will be able to enjoy tea and cake with spectacular views of the garden. Home to poet one of England’s finest poets, William Cowper, this is a great attraction for fun, learning and exploration.
The refreshments are great value for money too – with tea/coffee plus a slice of cake for just £3.
