COFFEE COMPANY AIMS TO BRING THE CRAFT BACK TO SPECIALTY COFFEE
COFFEE COMPANY AIMS TO BRING THE CRAFT BACK TO SPECIALTY COFFEE AND PROVIDE ALTERNATIVE SPACE OUT OF OFFICE
Two local business men have recently announced the launch of Out of Office Coffee, specialty coffee shops with a difference. Working as the exclusive distributor in the region for world-renown coffee experts Workshop Coffee, the company have been diligent in sourcing the best beans direct from source, filtering the water to ensure great taste and identifying local suppliers to boost the New City’s economy.
Ben Jarvis and Steven Dick had high profile jobs in London, and having worked in those office environments they discovered their best business meetings were held in coffee shops. They also discovered a growing appreciation for specialty coffee, and the two decided to start Out of Office together and their flagship store in Stony Stratford’s High Street has already been a great success.
Co-owner Steven Dick says, “We have been blown away by the response from the local residents. There is nowhere in the localities we operate offering specialty coffee, particularly in the environment we have been able to create. Since opening we have seen everyone from mums on the run, local businesspeople having meetings, retired folk meeting up with friends and coffee aficionados who have been waiting for a place like this to open for years.”
Their first store opened in Stony Stratford on the 7th July 2017 and the second store has recently opened in Newport Pagnell. After the enthusiastic response to their initial two sites, the duo have seen interest from landlords and the public in other locations around Milton Keynes surge. Where possible, they hope to meet the demand by expanding to additional sites in future.
The company has already provided employment for 21 local people and used local carpenters and signage companies to fit out the coffee shops and make the environments feel authentic and homely.
Co-owner Bennet Jarvis continues, “It is important to us that every element of our service offering is well sourced and provides the customer with a quality experience that simultaneously has tangible benefit for the local economy. A great example is our best selling food item, which is currently a gluten free pudding made by Newport Pagnell-based baker Minkie Moo. It’s delicious and local! Big coffee chains are not interested in building local businesses, but we feel this is so important to ensure the City as a whole is benefited from us being here.”
Both Out of Office locations offer speciality coffee, great cakes and puddings, and have recently introduced new breakfast and lunch options. Opening hours are Monday - Friday 7:30 - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 8am - 4pm.
