Today, a record number of parks and green spaces collect a Green Flag Award
The Parks Trust, the self-financing charity who expertly manage and maintain over 6,000 acres of parkland across Milton Keynes have been recognised by the Green Flag Award Scheme, as having some of the very best parks in the world.
The Parks Trust is among a record-breaking 1,970 UK green space organisations and 131 in thirteen other countries around the world, that will today receive a prestigious Green Flag Award– the mark of a quality park or green space.
The Parks Trust continues to be the only recipient of the award for a complete network of parks across a whole town or city. This international award, now into its third decade, is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.
David Foster, Chief Executive of The Parks Trust said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award for the third year in a row.
“We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining the green spaces cared for in Milton Keynes, to such a high standard.
International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “It’s fantastic that we have more Green Flag Awards in the UK than ever before, joined this year by 131 International winners.”
“Each flag honours the thousands of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award. We congratulate each and every winner on their fantastic achievement.”
The Parks Trust organises and enables over 500 events and activities each year making Milton Keynes a vibrant and colourful place for everyone to enjoy. To find out more about The Parks Trust and events throughout the year visit www.theparkstrust.com
